The Osijek Spring Fair was officially opened on Friday with the inauguration of the Osijek-Baranja County Business Centre, a new space for hosting trade fairs and other economic activities.

The project was implemented in partnership with the City of Osijek and ensures new business infrastructure and spaces for economic events, fairs, and congresses.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, the representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament and Mayor of Osijek, Ivan Radić, Minister Marija Vučković, Ministers Davor Filipović and Šime Erlić, the Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Ivan Anušić, as well as numerous members of parliament, mayors, and other esteemed guests.

The project is a capital investment by the Osijek-Baranja County, which was realized in partnership with the City of Osijek, providing new business infrastructure and spaces for trade fairs, and other economic events.

The prime minister congratulated Prefect Anušić and Mayor Radić, saying that the project showed excellent cooperation between the city, county, the Croatian government, and the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, during the time of Ministers Tramišak and Erlić.

The opening of the VC Corridor through Baranja, the Regional Distribution Center for Fruit and Vegetables of the Osijek-Baranja County, and the announcement of other projects in Osijek by Mayor Radić, all show enthusiasm, energy, and attraction of foreign investors, such as Jabil, which will start with a workforce of 1,500 people.

The mayor of Osijek said that the new business centre, which was partially financed by European funds, was a great and commendable project that adds to the many other projects already underway in the city, such as the modernization of wastewater treatment, the construction of a pedestrian underpass, the connection of the Upper and Lower Town promenades, and the construction of three kindergartens.

He also pointed out that Osijek’s potential was being recognized by foreign investors, citing the arrival of a large international corporation that will employ around 1,500 people, which is the largest investment in the Osijek-Baranja County since independence. He reported that Osijek had a record-high employment rate and record-low unemployment rate over the past 15 years.

With the construction of the Osijek-Baranja County Business Centre, the county continues a series of capital infrastructure investments that create the prerequisites for even more economic growth and development.
