Serbia’s UB Huishan NE Win FIBA 3×3 Men’s World Tour Challenger in Israel

Serbian side Ub Huishan NE on Tuesday won the men’s 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Challenger tournament in Netanya.

Huishan beat Israel’s Tel Aviv 21-8 in the final game at the Sportec Yahalom complex mainly thanks to nine points and six rebounds by Dejan Majstorovic, who was crowned tournament MVP. His teammate Marko Brankovic added five more points.

Earlier in the semifinals, Huishan had beaten Paris 18-12, with Majstorovic scoring six points and Nemanja Barac adding five more, alongside nine rebounds.

In the other semifinal, Tel Aviv achieved a dramatic 21-20 win over Belgium’s Antwerp Topdesk, with a winning basket by Netanel Artzi.

Joaquin Szuchman topped Israel’s scorers with eight points, while Antwerp’s Dennis Donkor scored a game-high ten points.

In the quarterfinals earlier in the day, Huishan had beaten Latvia’s Riga 21-18, Paris overcame Beijing 22-16, Antwerp beat Jerusalem 20-16 and Tel Aviv defeated Lithuania’s Marijampole Mantinga 21-14.

By reaching the final game, Huishan and Tel Aviv secured their spots in next month’s World Tour Debrecen Masters, one of the year’s 18 tournaments that award tour points.

The Serbian side currently lead the overall standings with 300 points after winning all three Masters tournaments held so far. The next Masters competition will be held in Macao, starting Saturday.
