Ilir Meta, the President of Albania, has congratulated Celtic on their victory over Sarajevo in the Champions League, and hinted that he may make it to our next round clash against Nomme Kalju.
President Meta made headlines when he bumped into a number of Celtic fans over in Sarajevo last week. He was videoed with a smile across his face as he met some Hoops supporters in the Bosnian sunshine.
He received real warmth from the wider Celtic support following the emergence of the video and now he may be looking to take the relationship a step further.
Meta took to Twitter on Thursday morning to congratulate Celtic on their win over Sarajevo. He also hinted that he would like to experience Neil Lennon’s side in action.
Warmest congratulations to @CelticFC for the deserved victory last night in @ChampionsLeague. I hope in the next match with Nõmme Kalju to experience live emotions of the win & meet again the wonderful celt fans."Once you're a Celt you're always a Celt. Will President Meta make the trip to Celtic Park?
Celtic face Nomme Kalju in Glasgow on Wednesday 24th July. Coincidentally, that is the second anniversary of President Meta getting in to office.
It would be quite something if he was able to get to a Celtic game in the not too distant future. There can’t have been too many democratic leaders to go through the Celtic Park turnstiles in recent years.
If he does come, hopefully he sees a few Celtic goals.
